| Speaker: | MR. IRWIN FEFERGRAD |
There have been numerous developments in the last little while where government has inserted itself more and more into the regulatory environment. Examples include treating spouses, publicly available information, cone beam usage, permit-to-permit registration in registration, amongst other topics.
Mr. Fefergrad will inform us on how all of this will impact the dentist at chair side.

| Topic: | “FROM ELASTOMERIC IMPRESSIONS TO DIGITAL REPLICATION – IT’S A SCANNING WAND, NOT A MAGIC WAND” |
| Speaker: | DR. BRIAN SCHRODER |
Computers have improved the world of dentistry in many ways, the most recent being dedicated impressioning systems for the construction of indirect restorations. Computers can improve the efficiency and accuracy needed to create precisely fitted restorations, resulting in a more satisfying experience for both the patient and operator. However, purchasing a digital replication system does not assure success. The long-standing fundamentals of preparation design, isolation, and provisionalization remain essential.
In this presentation, Dr. Schroder will review those long-standing fundamentals with particular emphasis on techniques used to obtain ideal results. Conventional impressioning procedures will be discussed in detail, with professional quality videos to further demonstrate all steps from isolation to provisionalization. He will then discuss the digital systems currently available, including both CAD/CAM and dedicated impressioning systems. Technique videos will detail the use of the Lava COS for capture of digital data which enables fabrication of the indirect restoration of the dentist’s choice. Clinical cases will be shown which demonstrate the capabilities of the COS. This program will enable clinicians to provide more predictable results with their indirect restorations regardless of impression type.
Dr. Brian Schroder graduated from the UT Health Science Center Dental School in San Antonio in 1982 and completed a General Practice Residency at the Audie Murphy Veterans Administration Hospital in 1983. He was an Assistant Professor in the Department of General Practice, Graduate Division at the Dental School in San Antonio from 1983-1995. He is an active member of the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry and maintains a full time private practice n comprehensive restorative dentistry with special interests in dental implants, cone beam CT, sleep disordered breathing and digital replication. He has authored an article on /Digital Impressioning for the September 2009 issue of Dentistry Today. His cases are featured on the LAVA COS website. He was featured in the Speaker’s Showcase at the National Meeting of the Seattle Study Club in January 2010 and has been asked to present a clinical demonstration at the 2010 ADA meeting’s Education in the Round.

| Topic: | “EVERYDAY DENTISTRY-MORE THAN EVERYDAY RESULTS” |
| Speaker: | DR. LORNE LAVINE |
Many dental practices are still unprepared to adapt to the rapid changes occurring in the dental technology field. The market is dominated by large dental supply companies and dentists often have limited access to objective information to make very critical decisions. Furthermore, even dentists who have made the plunge to going paperless do not have the skills and training to know how to properly market their practices to potential patients. At the end of the day, an influx of new patients and retaining existing patients is the lifeblood of any practice.
This course will evaluate the different systems that help a practice become chartless, and using technology to market the practice to patients. It involves the development of a six-step plan for taking an office from a paper-based format to a digital one. The steps evaluated are:
